Medeama SC kicked off their new year with victory over Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.
Former Hearts midfielder Salim Adams scored the decisive goal for the Mauve and Yellow side in their first game of the new year.
The Phobians came into the fixture looking to extend their three-game unbeaten run after wins over Nations FC and Samartex and a draw against Aduana FC.
The first half saw the two teams give a good account of themselves as they pushed each other to the limit but no goal was forthcoming.
Medeama looked the better side in the second half as they continually pushed the Hearts defense.
Their efforts paid off in the 75th minute when Adams scored to break the deadlock and give the home side the lead at the TNA Stadium.
The victory sees Medeama maintain their position at the top of the league table with 34 points, two above GoldStars who now sit second on the log.
Hearts, on the other hand, stay fifth with 28 points from the first round of games in the league.
