Four players of Asante Kotoko have been formally charged for breaching the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Code following their involvement in unsporting behaviour in the game Ghana Premier League against Nsoatreman FC.
The game was marred by violent acts which also resulted in the death of Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong.
The Porcupine Warriors captain Justice Blay, along with teammates Mohammed Camara, Gilbani O'Neil Ndongani Samba, and Andrews Ntim Manu, have been charged for unprofessional conduct following a violent altercation during their match against Nsoatreman FC.
The charges are a result of a distressing fight that broke out between players from both teams during the match at Nana Konamansah II park.
Blay and Camara were both shown red cards for their involvement in the altercation, while Samba and Manu also face charges for their actions during the incident.
They are accused of breaching section 12(1)(j) of the GFA Disciplinary code, 2019, which addresses misconduct and unsporting behaviour.
The GFA’s disciplinary committee will investigate the incident and take the appropriate action according to the rules of the game.
The players have until Wednesday, February 5, 2025, to respond to the charges. The GFA is expected to take firm action to maintain the integrity of the league and prevent such incidents in the future.
