Defending champions Asante Kotoko will host Medeama SC at the Baba Yara sports stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Porcupine Warriors will attempt to reciprocate the performance they put up against Amidaus Professionals last week when they whitewashed the Tema based club 2-0 at the Tema Sports Stadium.
Medeama drew 1-1 with New Edubiase at Tarkwa last week, but won their last away fixture against Kotoko's rivals Hearts of Oak at Cape Coast courtesy of Kabiru Moro header.
Kokoko having lost trice this season and atop the log with 30 points have to fasten their belts against old bogey Medeama SC.
Despite leading the pack, there is still some way to go for the defending champions, Kotoko, who have rivals, Hearts of Oak just behind in second place.
A slip would add on to the pressure but a win against Medeama will all but confirm their position at the top going into the second round.
However matches between both teams have been keenly contested for the exchange of respect, fame, bragging rights and superiority over the other.
AshantiGold, one the challengers for the title at present face a difficult trip to Bechem with the Miners needing a win to close-in at the top.
At the Sekondi Essipong Stadium, Hasaacas will be at home and welcome evergreen King Faisal Babies in a match that promises to be full of surprises.
Both teams will target a win to build up points before the first round is brought to a halt.
King Faisal, having moved out of the relegation zone will be aiming to continue with their climb up the log but will come up against Hasaacas in a tricky contest at the Essipong Stadium.
New Edubiase, at home could add up to Ebusua Dwarfs' poor form this season when the Cape Coast side arrives at the Gyamfi Park.
Relegation and under pressure team Berekum Chelsea second from the bottom with 13 points will find unease as they host the scientific soccer lads Liberty Professionals to be played at the Golden City Park.
Unpromising Chelsea lost to Lions away whereas Liberty won 2-1 against Bechem United at home. A win or loss could either favour or disfavor both teams with regards to other results.
The Tema derby will conclude the weekend's action as the two sides - Amidaus Professionals and bottom side, Inter Allies - in the relegation zone come face-to-face.
