The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) will from October 4-8, 2010 host the 10th African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) technical event, whose objective is to discuss strategies to fight domestic tax abuse and the role of audit within small and medium size businesses.
The forum will also promote and facilitate mutual cooperation among African tax administrators and other stakeholders to help improve the efficacy of their tax legislation and administration.
A statement issued by the GRA said the seminar, to be attended by 50 participants, would train participants to gain a sound understanding of tax audits and give a comprehensive toolkit for auditing.
“Participants would also be encouraged to develop a creative approach to deal with most domestic audit cases, as well as with problems of the shadow economy,” it said.
The seminar which is sponsored by ATAF in collaboration with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), would be devoted to using practical cases to allow participants to familiarize themselves with common practical audit tools and techniques, while dealing with the auditing of electronic records.
