The Ghana Revenue Authority has cautioned tax defaulters to use the next few weeks left for its tax amnesty initiative, to clear their tax obligations or face the wrath of its task force when they resume the clampdown exercise by next month.

According to the Commissioner-General, Rev. Amishaddai Owusu Amoah, the Commission has been very generous enough with the amnesty programme which is expected to end in September.

Speaking Joy Business after the GRA donated some Personal Protective Equipment to 160 basic schools in the country, Rev. Owusu-Amoah said his outfit is bent on ensuring that the nation grows its tax revenue collection significantly.

The gesture from the authority is part of its contributions to support the Ghana Education Service and the government to reduce the spread Covid-19 from various basic schools in the country.

According to the Commissioner-General, as a tax collection agency, the development of the country through human capital is an utmost priority in order to support revenue mobilization, hence the decision to support this course.

“The items which include 640 hand washing units, 480 gallons of liquid soap, 320 packs of tissue and hand sanitizers is a continuation of the contribution by the Ghana Revenue Authority to help protect the pupils as school reopens”.

“As a tax collection institution, it is part of our mandate to help in the development of our country and we see this as an honorable calling for the authority” he noted.

This is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the GRA, he added.

Rev. Owusu-Amoah also assured its support towards the provision of other social amenities for some needy schools in the country to ensure a comfortable environment for study.
