The night editor of the Daily Graphic Newspaper Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini has won the controversial primaries of the newly created Sagnarigu constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress. He polled 112 votes to beat two other contenders, Deputy Women and Children’s Affairs Minister Hawawu Boya Gariba and the Regional School Feeding Co-ordinator. Joy News’ Northern Region correspondent Clement Boateng who was present at the venue of the primaries said Alhaji Fuseini was carried shoulder high by enthusiastic supporters. The election was not without controversy as one of the delegates was arrested for carrying a pistol to the venue of the election. In all, a total number of 222 delegates took part in the primaries. Olivia Yaya who is the Regional School Feeding Programme Coordinator came second after Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini with 93 votes. Hawawu Boya Gariba polled 10 votes. The Deputy Minister is the latest high profile casualty in the National Democratic Congress’ ongoing primaries for the yet to be legalized 45 newly created constituencies after Tourism Minister Sena Dansua was also beaten in the Volta Region.
