CONSIDER ALTERNATIVE EMPLOYMENT FOR THE YOUTH - ALLIANCE FOR OBUASI DEVELOPMENT (AFOD) TELLS NEW OBUASI MCE The Alliance for Obuasi Development (AFOD) is an Obuasi-based Non Governmental Organisation which exists to be a mouthpiece for the development of Obuasi Municipality. The organization hopes to galvanise like-minded people to create the opportunity for the youth in particular to freely realise their potentials. In line with our mission, the organization would want to congratulate the new MCE, on his nomination, confirmation and swearing in as the Municipal Chief Executive and hope that his tenure of office would see the organisation’s mission realized. While congratulating the new Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, the organization hopes to draw his attention to a number of issues, which when addressed would facilitate the development of Obuasi. 1. Alternative employment for the youth (Employment outside Galamsey) 2. Facilitation of viable land for small scale mining 3. More transparency in the selection of scholarship beneficiaries to benefit children from deprived communities. 4. Enforcement of the Assembly’s bye-law which prevents school-going children from roaming in town after 8pm The Alliance for Obuasi Development is also reminding the new MCE of his vision to 1.Establish a Tertiary Institution in the municipality 2. Develop alternative routes to ease congestion in the city as outlined in his speech after his confirmation. Finally, the organization wishes to pledge its unflinching support to the new MCE for a successful tenure of office.
