The body of a student of Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) who got drowned at Allan Beach in Takoradi in the Western region, Saturday, has still not been found.
According to reports, the family of Benjamin Abaidoo, 18, have gone to perform some rituals at the beach with the hope that they will find his body.
Abaidoo is alleged to be one of the students who jumped the school wall to go to town after the school's security refused to let them go out of the main school gate.
Narrating the story, a source told Joy News that, at about 5.30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, a number of students wanted to go out school through the school gate without exeat.
Hours later, a teacher of the school, Mr. Rockson Inkoom, who resides outside campus received a phone call informing him about one student from the school who had drowned at the Allan Beach.
In the company of the house master, Mr. Bernard Ampako, they drove to the beach to verify if the story was true and if possible to identify the student.
Upon arrival and confirmation, eyewitnesses confirmed to them that all efforts were made to save Benjamin Abaidoo from drowning, but the unfortunate happened.
The house master was later informed that some students who were denied exiting the school premises by the security man went behind one of the dormitories, House Two and jumped over the wall.
Together with his assistants and a few teachers, the headmaster reported the incident to the Takoradi Harbour Police Station after which parents of the student were also informed.
Police investigations are ongoing.
