The District Chief Executive for the Gushegu District, Alhaji Fuseini Alhassan is calling on the people of Gushegu to avoid blaming each other in the recent clash between Fulanis and Komkombas in the area.
He said though the incident is grieving, calm should be restored in order for the police to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.
About 12 Fulani nomads were killed in Zamashegu, a farming community in the Gushegu District of the Northern region by persons suspected to be Komkombas.
Speaking on Asempa Fm’s current affairs show Ekosii Sen on Wednesday, Alhaji Fuseini Alhassan said he could confirmed that six people were killed and several injured who are all Fulanis.
He stressed that so far no arrest have been made, noting that heavy security have been deplored to the area in order to restore calm. “We are still investigating the matter to see what warranted the death but I want to say we have a lot of security on the ground”.
“The incident happened in the Komkomba catchment area but I want to plead with my people not to blame each other. We woke up and heard about the incident” he asserted.
He noted that the incident happened at dawn and reckoned by close of Thursday, the perpetrators would have been arrested. “I hope by the close of tomorrow the truth would have been known as to who did that”.
He said the dead bodies and casualties have since been referred to the Tamale Teaching hospital.
