The Management of Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL), Accra West Region, has announced an emergency shutdown of the Weija Treatment Plant to allow for urgent repair works.
A statement issued by the GWL noted that the shutdown will take place on Tuesday, 18th November 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., during which water supply to several parts of Accra will be temporarily interrupted.
Areas expected to be affected include Korle-Bu, Dansoman, Mamprobi, parts of Weija, Gbawe, Mallam, Anyaa, Kwashieman, Ablekuma, Darkuman, and Kaneshie.
The others are Tesano, Odorkor, Sowutuom, Lapaz, Achimota, North Industrial Area, and surrounding communities.
GWL noted that "Our engineers are on-site, working hard to ensure that the work is completed on schedule. We regret the inconvenience caused."
