Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan is backing former world footballer of the year George Weah to win the Liberia polls which is in its second round Tuesday.
In a message, the Ghana skipper asked Liberians to make good use of the second chance they have to correct the mistake they made in the first round.
The following is the full statement;
I know second round in everything is a chance to right your wrongs, improve yourself and above all show the world you are the best.
I believe leadership is God's calling and this is your time to show Liberia, Africa and the world God's greatness in you.
You are not someone who just wants to occupy a position because you have exhibited your passion for your country through football. You are a humanitarian, great leader in all aspects of life and above all a visionary.
You didn't win World Best Footballer on a plater of gold, you really worked hard for it and I know your motivation was from the love of your country Liberia.
As Liberia goes to the polls for the 2nd round of elections, I Asamoah Gyan pledge my undying support for you my brother George Weah. I believe in you and your vision for your great nation and I know the good people of Liberia believe in you.
When I get the opportunity, I'll personally come on the grounds to help you. I see you already as the President so just hope and pray because it will surely come to pass in few days to come.
To my brothers & sisters in Liberia, George Weah has sacrificed his entire life for this beautiful country of yours. He is the only African to win the World's Best Footballer. He has his country at heart and willing to work to make Liberia a better place.
My name is ASAMOAH GYAN and I support GEORGE WEAH as the next President of Liberia.
