Ghana's Asamoah Gyan is now free to play in the opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.
He was sent off in his last competitive international match.
The Confederation of African Football said on Wednesday that they had received no notification from world governing body Fifa over any suspension.
Gyan was red-carded against Brazil in the second round of the World Cup finals 18 months ago and Ghana has not played a competitive match since then.
As Nations Cup hosts, they did not take part in the qualifying campaign for the tournament and have been restricted to friendly matches since the World Cup.
