Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has expressed shock over Sunderland coach Steve Bruce’s outbursts over his loan move to UAE side Al Ain but insists he has no problems with the boss.
The 25-year-old completed a record £6 million season-long loan move away from the Wearside to the Arabian Peninsula last month.
Sunderland coach Bruce questioned the striker’s loyalty to the club and does not expect his return to the club.
Al Ain contacted Sunderland and reached an agreement over the £6m loan before Gyan agreed to move.
“Everybody who matters at the club gave his consent to the move because they were happy with the offer,” Gyan told Accra-based Peace FM.
“I heard Bruce grant interviews after I left which has baffled me. I did not leave on my own accord. Sunderland agreed before the deal was reached.
“I have no problems with the coach and I have never had a problem with the coach.”
Gyan made his debut for Al Ain last week in a 2-1 win over Dubai FC.
