The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, the Reverend Dr Paul Yaw Frempong Manso, has advised media practitioners and commentators to be prudent with their comments on the political crisis in Ivory Coast. He said they should desist from comments that could inflame passions and rather give constructive criticisms that would help the leaders to foster peace and stability. Rev. Dr. Frempong Manso said this in an address to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Swedru Central Assemblies of God Church at Agona Swedru in the Central Region. He said the political crisis in that country had claimed the lives of innocent people, including women and children, the most vulnerable in the society and caution must be exercised not to exacerbate the situation. Rev. Dr. Frempong Manso, therefore, appealed to the two leaders to compromise to restore peace and unity in their country. On the outbreak of cholera in some parts of the country, he urged Ghanaians to rekindle their communal spirit to undertake clean up exercises regularly in their communities to clean the filth, which had engulfed the country. He announced that the Church had completed plans to open a University College, saying that, the Project Committee had secured accreditation to enable the University to commence programmes by the end of October, 2011. He said for a start, the University would have three campuses in Saltpond, Kumasi and Accra. According to him, the University would run courses in Theology, Business, Finance and Accounting, saying that the move was to help absorb the growing number of senior high school students to reduce pressure on the public universities. Charles Arkoh-Nunoo, pastor in charge of the Central Assemblies of God Church at Agona Swedru, outlined a number of projects that had been undertaken by the church since its establishment some 40 years ago in the Municipality.
