The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has cautioned that no teacher is above the law, urging educators to maintain discipline, professionalism, and accountability in their line of duty.
Addressing a packed audience at the 2025 Ghana Teacher Prize ceremony in Ho, he praised teachers for their sacrifices but stressed that excellence in education requires adherence to ethics and standards.
“You are here; your heads are held high. But let it be clear, no teacher is above the law. Any teacher who operates below acceptable standards must face the full rigour and highest sanctions of the law,” he said.
The Minister explained that the government’s ongoing reforms in the education sector are designed not only to improve welfare but also to strengthen integrity and performance within the teaching service.

“Quality education depends on discipline, commitment, and responsibility. The Ministry, the Ghana Education Service, and the Republic will continue to ensure that our teachers remain role models for the next generation,” he added.
Haruna Iddrisu reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to enhancing conditions of service for teachers, acknowledging their struggles and assuring them of continued support.

“We know that you are paid very little, far less than you deserve. But we will continue to work to improve your welfare and professional growth,” he stated.
The 2025 Ghana Teacher Prize, themed “Elevating the Status of Teachers for Quality Education,” celebrated teachers for their dedication to shaping the nation’s human capital and moral foundation.
