New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged a future of innovation, opportunity, and economic transformation for Ghanaians if elected president.
Speaking to party supporters in Ketu South on November 15, the former Vice President urged citizens to trust his leadership as he seeks the nation’s highest office.
“Have confidence in me. You have seen what I can do as Vice President. If you make me president with the full mandate, I will bring ‘Abrokyire’ [foreign investment] to Ghana,” Dr. Bawumia said.
He called on Ghanaians to look beyond current economic challenges and focus instead on the transformative ideas and vision he brings to the table.
“It is not the money in your pocket that will transform Ghana. It is the ideas in your head,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted key digital and financial sector reforms achieved during his tenure as Vice President, pointing to his track record as evidence of his readiness to deliver greater transformation.
He recalled, “If you had MTN, you couldn’t move money to someone with Vodafone or Airtel. You couldn’t move money from your bank account to your MoMo account. But I said it was possible for us to do it in Ghana, and we have done it.”
He also revealed that the expansion of the mobile money sector has created significant employment opportunities.
“When we came, MoMo agents were 107,000. Today, they are 900,000. We have created 800,000 jobs,” he noted.
