Hearts of Oak have not made any contact with Swedish trainer Tom Strand, according to spokesperson Opare Addo.

Reports in the local media suggest Hearts are contemplating replacing interim manager Henry Wellington with Tom Strand.

The Phobians are without a substantive coach after terminating the contract of Frank Nuttal for unsporting and unethical behaviour before the start of the season.

Henry Wellington

Wellington is at the helm of affairs but it appears he would not be given the job on a permanent basis due to the club's inconsistent form in the Ghana Premier League. Hearts have 15 points after playing 11 matches and occupy the 10th position on the log.

And Strand, 36, is said to have reached an agreement with the club to become the next coach.

But Opare has denied the reports, giving a clear indication that the current technical team led by Wellington has the backing of the club.

“Wellington is the head coach now, he’s being assisted by Odoom and that remains it. No other decision[regarding Tom Strand] has been taken.''

Tom Strand is not a novice to Ghanaian football, having had an impressive stint with Medeama. He guided the Mauves to win the MTN FA Cup in 2015.

That was after a good spell with Bechem United. Last season he managed Great Olympics but departed before the club suffered relegation from the top flight.
