Accra Hearts of Oak rewarded their departing coach, Eyal Lachman with what its officials describe as a befitting package when they chalked a 2-0 win over Kessben FC in their 25th Onetouch Premiership game played at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on Sunday. Hearts went into the game with revenge on their minds but had to labour initially in a manner that cast doubts over their ability to record a win that would ensure the Israeli trainer departed on a high spirit. The Phobians had Raphael Obeng and Ekow Ghansah to thank for their strikes that would obviously improve their fortunes on the league table. Kessben appeared to have the game wrapped on their fingers in the opening moments where they dominated their host at every department of the game but lack of finishing power robbed them from taking the lead. After several failed attempts to get close to scoring, Eric Gawu drew the defending champions the closer within five minutes after the half hour mark when he weaved his way through the Kessben defence but missed target narrowly. Obeng however was to succeed where Gawu failed five minutes later when he brilliantly finished off from an acute position. It was Gawu who orchestrated the opener with a fine move from the left flank for Bernard Don Bortey to cook it when he picked out Obeng from the right flank for the debutant youngster in the Premiership to deliver a hefty drive that goalkeeper Alex Kwadwo Tettey tried to clutch but the power laden ball swung over his diving body before rolling into the net. Back from the recess, Kessben began to push the Phobians to the reverse gear but just when they appeared to be nearing an equalizer, Hearts consolidated their lead against the ran of play in the 57th minute. Advancing Ghansah was fouled close to the center of the pitch with free kick going to the advantage of the host. Inspirational free-kick specialist Bortey took the responsibility to take the dead-ball. He sent in an in-swinger that reached Ghansah who pumped up from the crowd to meet the flying ball to send a low one past goalkeeper Tettey. Kessben was to fight but Hearts fought hard to fend off any challenges that could threaten their dreams of carrying the day. Source: GNA
