Defending champions, Accra Hearts of Oak, put up an excellent performance to beat Gamba All Blacks 1-0 in their eighth week match at Swedru.
Michael Asante, former Asante Kotoko player scored the only goal of the match in the 6th minute when he headed home a cross from Ekow Ghansah, who was later substituted in the 69th minute.
All Blacks started on the fast note but squandred three glorious opportunities in the 14, 38, and 43 minutes.
In the 38th minute, Sanni Mohammed got injured when he make a second attempt to grab a shot from Obed Owusu of Gamba All Blacks after failing to make a first time save.
Hearts of Oak’s second goalkeeper Collins Addo came on for Sani Mohammed in the 48th minute due to the injury.
Ernest Okyere of Hearts Oak also came on for Ekow Ghansah in the 69th minute, while striker Osman Sakora of Gamba All Blacks also replaced Osei Bonsu in the 73rd minute.
Kwabena Boafo who captained Hearts was shown the yellow card by referee Cecil Fletcher in the 75th minute for delaying play.
Kofi Abanga of Hearts of Oak nearly registered his name on the score sheet but his powerful header missed the post in the 82nd minute.
