The National Chapters Committee of Accra Hearts of Oak says it has not sanctioned any Regional Elections for the Eastern Region. It has therefore ruled that any such elections held without its blessing, is illegal. The NCC said in a statement issued in Accra on Monday that it has received reports of a purported election for the region. The statement, signed by Ken Nuworsu, Public Relations Officer of the NCC, urged all Phobians to disregard the purported elections since “the National Secretariat of the National Chapters Committee (NCC) has not sanctioned any Regional Election for the Region”.The Statement, which announced the NCC’s intention to publish modalities for elections in the Eastern Region in due course, explained that some time ago, the General Secretary of the NCC, whose direct responsibility it is to coordinate and conduct such elections issued nomination forms to the region, however the forms were yet to be returned to him and until the completed forms, together with nomination fees were presented to the General Secretary of the National Chapters Committee, “NO ELECTION CAN BE HELD IN THE EASTERN REGION”.
