Accra Hearts of Oak have formally bid farewell to Coach Mohammed Polo after his contract successfully ended with the Phobian club.
A letter signed by Administrative Manager Hackman Aidoo for Executive Chairman Togbe Afede XIV said the coach's contract was to end at the end of the season.
The Club thanked Mohammed Polo for stepping in at a difficult time and doing his best for the team, and also wished him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
The former Hearts player took over from David Duncan, whose contract was mutually terminated in November last year, and he guided the team to a third place finish at the end of the season.
Although Mohammed Polo's maiden coaching stint with Hearts in the late 1980s as a player-coach ended up with him winning the 1989 FA Cup, he was unable to repeat his domestic cup success in his third coming, losing 2-1 to Tarkwa Gold Stars in the Round of 64 of the 2013/14 MTN FA CUP.
However, Polo was able to better Hearts' 2012/13 season fifth-place finish. He was unlucky to be denied a second-place finish by the strangest of officiating decisions on the final day of the 2013/14 season, with a late penalty decision awarded against Hearts.
The Hearts legend's coaching contract with Hearts ended on the last day of the season, but he was handed an official letter to that effect this afternoon.
