Traditional powerhouses, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are expected to whet the appetite of fans before the start of the new Glo Premier League campaign as the arch-rivals play the first leg of a pre-season friendly at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Proceeds from the two-legged tie, dubbed the MTN Super 2, will be donated to the “Come to My Aid Charity”. The return leg will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 1.
CEO of Hearts of Oak, Fred Crentsil told JOY Sports, “We will approach it as a serious game and we’ll then be testing our players to see whether they are ready for the resumption of the league.”
The two biggest clubs in the country pulled out of the maiden GHALCA eight-team pre-season tournament citing different reasons.
Kotoko staged a remarkable recovery to finish third last season while Hearts settled for a seventh place finish.
The match is expected to test their readiness of the giants to compete with big spenders Medeama SC and defending champions Berekum Chelsea.
