Ghana's Heptathlete Margaret Simpson has exclusively revealed to Joy sports she won’t represent Ghana anymore as an athlete.
The three time Africa championships gold medalists is unhappy with the way national athletes are neglected by the Ghana Athletics Association(GAA).
Simpson is following the footsteps of long-jumper Ignatius Gaisah who announced his nationality switch to Holland last week after complaining bitterly about lack of financial supports during his service for the nation.
“The way we are suffering as athletes in Ghana is not good and they way they are treating us is very bad so if my brother has taken the decision not to represent Ghana, I fully support him because there is no happiness representing Ghana,” she told Joy sports.
“I also don’t want to run for Ghana any longer because I have been left by myself since suffering a Kidney problem. Nobody came to me or even called to ask how I’m doing and that was really shocking.
“Gaisah and I were running for Ghana so now that he is going then I also don’t want to run for Ghana any longer.”
Simpson turned down several overtures from Mauritius to switch allegiance some years ago.
