A herbalist has been arrested by the Bibiani police for attempting to sell his younger brother. The herbalist, Adama Sakpana, 35, was ‘lucky’ enough to get a buyer at an arranged GH¢5,000 price, however the buyer turned out to be a police informant, who had feigned interest in the deal and informed the police.A police source told the Times that on May 18, Sakpana travelled from Sefwi-Adukrom, near Bibiani, and lodged at a hotel at Bibiani from where he sought a buyer for his 14-year old brother. He met the informant and after bargaining, they agreed on GH¢5,000 as the price for the boy. The informant then asked him to wait at a spot while he went for the money.Sakpana was to go for the boy after the money had been paid. The informant alerted the police and then invited Sakpana to meet him at another hotel. The police swooped in and arrested Sakpana when he collected the money. He was charged with human trafficking and put before a magistrates' court at Bibiani on Tuesday, May 27, where he pleaded not guilty. The court, presided over by Mr Dickson Daketsey, remanded him in prison custody to reappear in three weeks.Source: The Times
