An Accra High Court on Tuesday quashed a contempt of court case brought against Dr. Joe Blankson and three others in the dispute over who is the rightful heir to the Ga Mantse throne.
The faction led by Dr. George Tackie brought the case against Dr. Joe Blankson and the others for going ahead with the process of installing a new Ga Mantse despite a pending injunction.
The two factions belong to the Teiko Tsuru family which was laying claim to the throne.
The Dr. Joe Blankson’s faction however claimed to have secured the blessing of the entire family, having been successful at the vetting, and had gone ahead to install Dr. Joe Blankson as the new Ga Mantse.
The rival faction led by Dr. George Tackie said the installation was done despite a pending injunction.
Her Lordship, Mrs Nkumsah-Abban however ruled that a motion to commit the Dr. Joe Blankson faction for contempt could not succeed because there was not enough evidence to support it.
The court nonetheless intimated that the ruling was not to suggest that the case was dismissed and urged the factions to find a way of settling their differences amicably in the interest of peace especially in the light of the very commendable manner the Ga State conducted the burial of the late King Boni Nii Amugi II.
