The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso, Ms Josephine Hilda Addo, who was running as an independent candidate has withdrawn from the race, throwing her weight behind the NPP candidate.
Ms Addo said her decision was based on the intervention of the party's presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
"Nana Akufo-Addo spoke to me personally on the need to withdraw in order to stay the party united and I accepted his advise because I respect my party leader," she told Graphic.com.gh in Kumasi.
On the day she filed to contest the seat as an independent candidate, Ms Addo explained she was in the race to restore Kwadaso to its proper place in politics and national development.
Even though then she said the decision was final, she made a U-turn because of "her love for the party".
The Kwadaso seat is currently occupied by the NPP's Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto who is seeking re-election on the ticket of the party on December 7.
Ms Addo said she remained a committed member of the NPP and was ready to contribute her quota to ensure that the party won heavily in the elections at Kwadaso.
