A mentally-ill mother, last Thursday was believed to have drowned her two-year baby girl in a six feet deep well at Zebilla, Bawku West District.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Zebilla, Police Inspector Clement Ayamga, Zebilla Station Officer, said the body of the baby was found on Friday after an intensive search by the police.
He said the search was mounted when the mother who usually carried the baby around, was found without the child.
Inspector Ayamga said the report to the police was made by residents in the area.
“Since she is not normal, nothing has been done to her and she is still walking the streets,” he said.
Inspector Ayamga said the body had since been identified and would be given to the relatives for burial.
Meanwhile, the well has been declared unsafe for human use and therefore sealed.
