For centuries, salt has been the mainstay of the people of Ada. Unlike gold or oil, salt is a renewable resource that will always be there so long as the sun shines, the rain falls or the sea finds its way into their lagoon.
Forty years ago the government of the Provisional National Defense Council claimed a chunk of the Ada Songor Lagoon, following clashes between the people of the area and private investors.
The people of Ada are worried that since this takeover very little has come to them by way of royalties.
