The Upper East Regional House of Chiefs says it is intervening in the controversy surrounding the installations of two rival chiefs in the regional capital, Bolgatanga.
The two gates, each claiming entitlement to the skin had their leaders installed as Bolga Naba – one in Bolgatanga and the other enskinned at Nalerigu and later brought to the regional capital.
But the President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, Naba Sigri Bewong, says work is underway to resolve the issue.
He indicated that both factions must submit their Chieftaincy Declaration Forms for scrutiny and determination of who should be acknowledged as chief.
This is to ensure that the appropriate procedures were followed before the chief is finally gazetted to avert further mishaps.
According to him, until the due process is followed through registration and an oath administered by a high court judge, no one can be enskinned as chief of the area.
He said whoever is aggrieved by the decision after this is allowed to appeal.
