The 2008 Presidential candidate for the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom party says he believes he is the most suitable presidential candidate for the 2012 general election.
According to Dr. Nduom his past works under former president Kufuor’s regime attest to the fact that he can turn the fortunes of Ghana around to make the country a better place to live.
Dr. Kwesi Nduom said this at the launch of his intent to contest the CPP presidential primaries in Accra on Wednesday.
He noted that the Single Spine Salary Structure which is being enjoyed by section of the public servants was initiated at the time he was with the Kufuor’s administration.
"Soon there will be two brand new ferries on the Volta Lake under the Millennium Challenge Account, who made that happened?" it is this CPP man".
"When the brand new six lanes Tetteh Quarshie to Mallam are opened, you should ask yourself who made that happen? it is this CPP man, Papa Kwesi Nduom, Adwumawura", he added.
Dr. Nduom said that if a CPP man can do all these in a party he does not belong to, ask yourself what I can do if the entire government was put in the hands of the new CPP.
He said the new CPP is on the horizon, adding the country needs social transformation to be united and yet prosperous.
Dr. Nduom also believed the CPP is the only party that has the interest of uniting Africans for economic independence.
"As an integral part, the CPP will actively seek the political and economic unity of Africa to establish the continent's position in global affairs".
"We stand differently from other political parties, because ours is the only political party that believes in the unity of African states and that the unity will provide a better market, opportunities for our people" Dr. Nduom stressed.
Dr. Nduom maintained that the CPP will take a robust posture to wean the country from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and other international financial institutions.
He continued that it means CPP will not mortgage the future of our children and other natural resources to the detriment of Ghana and other nations.
He said there is a great future waiting for Ghanaians under President Paa Kwesi Nduom.
"Let's all work hard and make our people happy at home," he advised.
Dr. Nduom therefore pledged to put in place a robust campaign that will give the CPP more votes in the 2012 elections.
He added that the CPP will show its strength in both parliamentary and the presidential elections come next year.
"The Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem parliamentary seat is coming back to the Convention People’s Party," Dr. Nduom stressed.
He said since the defeat of the party in 2008 elections, the party has been engaging in self reflection and intensive debate to deal with indiscipline when it occurs.
“If given the opportunity I’ll correct my mistakes, working in sense of urgency in solving the problems in the country” he said.
