The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu says he is unaware that some Parliamentarians have tested positive for coronavirus.
In a yet-to-be-aired PM Express interview with JoyNews’ Evans Mensah, the Suame MP, who is also the Parliamentary Affairs Minister said the medical team were told to follow strict protocols and inform those tested individually about their status.
“As part of the arrangement that we did, we sounded that the results – negative or positive – should be communicated to those tested and those tested only even leaders should be kept out of it.
“So as I sit here, if anybody has tested positive, I don’t know,” he added.
The status of MPs and staff of the House after the Speaker ordered the compulsory coronavirus test has become a topical issue following revelations by the Minority Chief Whip, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak that two Parliamentarians and 13 staff have tested positive for the disease.
According to Mr Mubarak, the infected persons were informed of their status and have been isolated while contact tracing has commenced.
On this evening’s edition of PM Express, titled "A Conversation with Majority Leader', the Minister will speak on the issue.
PM Express will air at 9 PM and will be streamed live on Myjoyonline.com.
