Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central in the Central Region, Kwame Asare Obeng, has stated clearly that he has no interest in any political appointment from the governing party.
His sole focus, he noted, is on the development of his constituency.
“I don’t like any appointment. My focus is solely on Gomoa Central. I don’t want anything to distract me from the work I have to do for my people,” A Plus, as he is popularly known, made this known in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show.
A Plus also recalled a conversation with President John Mahama, where he made it clear that he did not want to be a minister.
“It’s not for you to tell Mahama or anyone else to give you an appointment. I am here to serve my people in Gomoa Central.
“I told the President, ‘I don’t want to be a minister. I want to focus on my work as an MP,” he declared.
Reflecting on his upbringing in Asebu, A Plus shared that he and his siblings had seen both struggle and comfort, which gave him insight into the challenges faced by those who are less fortunate.
“Growing up at Asebu, we saw a lot. Even those of us who had something we felt the hardships. So, I understand how those who don’t have must feel,” he said.
As the MP for Gomoa Central, A Plus expressed his deep commitment to making a difference.
“As your brother, now an MP, I want to change the lives of the people of Gomoa Central. I will do whatever I can to alleviate the suffering of those who are struggling. I want to make sure that even those who don’t have, at least during my time, will have what they need,” he pledged.
He concluded by reiterating his commitment to his constituency, saying, “All my focus is on Gomoa Central. No distractions, no appointments. My work is for the people.”
