Ghanaian musician Mr. Drew is unhappy he lost the Collaboration of the Year award to KiDi in last year's Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
When asked on Hitz FM if he felt cheated, Mr. Drew replied, "I felt like I had to win. I felt the song had to win chale, the numbers, and then we dey perform the tunes for everywhere, for every corner, people dey sing the song."
Despite his initial disappointment, Mr. Drew emphasised that the loss did not affect his relationship with KiDi.
"I don't think so. No, we always meet, we just talk, yeah. Me and KiDi be cool. We never took it personal at any point in time. But he's my brother, we're cool," he said in an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz.
Mr. Drew's 'Case Remix' featuring Mophty lost out to 'Likor' by KiDi featuring Stonebwoy in the Collaboration of the Year category. Other nominees were 'Lonely Road' by O'Kenneth, Xlimkid, Twatis by Oseikrom Sikani featuring. Kweku Smoke, and 'Kwaku Ananse Remix' by Amerado featuring Fameye.
The rest include 'Y'ahitte Remix' by King Paluta featuring Kuami Eugene, 'You Dey Feel The Vibe' by FRA featuring Nana Yaw Ofori Atta and 'My Darling' Akwaboah featuring Kwabena Kwabena.
Looking ahead to this year's TGMA, Mr. Drew revealed that he has filed for nominations in two categories.
"Yes, I have, Afrobeats Artiste of the Year, Afrobeats Song of the Year. Those are the ones I'm looking at," he stated.
As Mr. Drew looks to the future, it's clear that he's not dwelling on past losses. With a renewed focus and determination, he's ready to take on the music industry and bring home some well-deserved awards.
