For the short time he has been in the limelight, it seems Highlife artiste, Kuami Eugene, can qualify as one artiste who has chalked up huge successes and can also pass as having been at the receiving end of most criticisms.
He has won many awards, including the coveted Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA) Artiste of the Year in 2020, mounted international stages to perform, and headlined concerts, both home and abroad, among others.
And for the bad news, Kuami Eugene has been criticised for ‘stealing’ songs, bad fashion sense and other issues, including neglecting a man who claimed to be his father.

However, the Angela hitmaker says he is unfazed by the negative stuff, adding that he has a tough skin now.
“I have been in the industry for close to five years and heard things about me over and over again, but I am not moved anymore. I used to be bothered about those things some time ago, but not anymore. I was worried especially when the things said about me were not true."
"Now, I care less whatever anyone says about me. Once I know I am doing the right thing, I am not bothered anymore” he told Graphic Showbiz in an interview.

Asked about his future plans, the Confusion hitmaker said he had a lot ahead of him.
“Kuami Eugene is just starting. Although I have a couple of hit songs out there, I have a lot to offer Ghanaians and they will experience it soon” he stated.
Known for other songs such as Open Gate, Ohemaa, Obiaato, Wish Me Well and Confusion, Kuami Eugene thanked his fans and Ghanaians for holding him down since he started his music career.
“I am grateful for the warm reception Ghanaians have shown me since I started. The love has been great and I want to use this opportunity to thank Ghanaians for the support. I am so grateful and I want to tell everyone to expect more from me” he said

Kuami Eugene was a contestant in Season 5 of the music reality competition, MTN Hitmaker, in Ghana in 2016, where he finished third.
He was signed shortly afterwards by Lynx Entertainment and has gone on to release many hit singles.
In 2017, Angela reached one million views on YouTube, the most for any music artiste on that label at that time, and was depicted to be in rotation among the top 10 songs in Ghana.

He has performed on numerous stages such as Sarkodie's Rapperholic Concert which is held every December 25, Ghana Music Honours 2017 Edition, Decemba to Rememba in 2017, 61st Ghana Independence Celebration Show at Indigo 02 in London, Oh My Festival in Amsterdam, Afrobeats to the World concert at the PlayStation Theatre in New York and Afronation in Ghana.

In 2020, Kuami Eugene won VGMA Artiste of the Year, beating off competition from Sarkodie, Medikal, Kofi Kinaata and Diana Hamilton.
