The 2008 Presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom has disassociated himself from alleged bribing of some executives of the People’s National Convention (PNC) to influence the intended merger of the two Nkrumaist parties.The allegations were made by Atik Mohammed, a policy analyst of the PNC who accused “a former Presidential candidate of the CPP” of paying the said bribes to strangulate the PNC for his selfish interest.Although, he failed to name the said presidential candidate, Atik Mohammed said the matter would be addressed and at the appropriate time, the names of those inducing its members would be made public.Responding to the allegations, Dr. Nduom, the CPP's presidential candidate during the Election 2008 denied any involvement in the bribery allegations on Citi FM on Wednesday.“I don’t know who this Atik is and I really don’t know him as one of the leaders of the PNC. I talk to the leadership of the PNC and majority of them are very positive about what is going on...We are all trying to save a little money, here and there, waiting for the big deal so that when the big deal happens, we can support it...I don’t have that much excess money to pay to anybody in Tamale or Wa, if there is anything to support, it is in Accra,” he said.Meanwhile, Dr. Nduom has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the CPP/PNC merger becomes a reality.According to him, the only thing that would compel him to continue to be part of the CPP was when members of the two parties in the regions and constituencies merged into one party.“For me, it is a make or break affair as far as politics is concerned. If it works out, fine. It is these mediocre and selfish interests who are not ready to sacrifice for this to happen,” he said.Source: Citifmonline.com
