Afrobeats musician, Kidi has disclosed that he psyched himself up for social media trolls prior to losing the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year Award to gospel singer, Diana Hamilton.
Speaking with Doreen Avio on Lets Talk Showbiz, on Tuesday, the Lynx Entertainment signee said he expected the trolls, when the award did not go his way, thus he was not perturbed by it.
“I’ve had trolling experience even before I became an artiste. I remember my first suit I wore to VGMA, what Twitter did to me? So I know how these things go. Somebody has to be the scapegoat someway somehow and when it happened, I think I had set myself up with saying that I will be back. So I expected everything to happen the way that it happened,” he said.
Before the announcement of the Artiste of the Year, KiDi had been on stage a few timess for other awards. While taking the fourth award, he said, “I’ll be back”, referring to coming back for the final and biggest award of the night.
Eventually, Diana Hamilton won the most coveted Artiste of the Year Award. This got social media users trolling the afrobeats singer with some creating memes from the moment.
