The flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party’s (PPP), Brigitte Dzogbenuku says if given the mandate as president, she will lead a politically inclusive government.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Personality Profile, Brigitte Dzogbenuku indicated that divisive party politics stand in the way of the development of the nation.
She believes that every individual, regardless of party affiliation has something good to offer the nation, as such, creating a politically inclusive government will ensure that all of the country's human resources are utilized for the benefit of the nation as a whole.
"I am thinking of an inclusive government...The fact that it is a PPP-led government does not mean that there is no NDC or no NPP, in fact, there isn’t. We are all Ghanaians. Let’s forget about this divisive partisan politics and bring everybody together because there are brilliant people on both sides.”
Dzogbenuku, as she gears up to lead the PPP to the December polls said, it is time politics in Ghana takes a more nationalistic approach rather than the constant polarization of party politics and governance in the country.
She stated that this could only be achieved if “brilliant people” from various sides of the political divide are brought together under one government, preferably hers, to lead the country efficiently, with the purpose of achieving greatness for Ghana.
Although she admitted that there are a few "greedy and selfish ones" on either side of the political divide, she believes the PPP presents an alternative that will bridge this gap and attract the "brilliant ones" together for the good of the nation.
“And what has happened is they belong to these two parties (NDC & NPP) because they think that they are the only two. I chose to do it differently and go with the PPP. I have heard people say to me that ‘Oh, she’s in the wrong party’, I say those are the wrong parties for me".
From her standpoint, an inclusive government will help position the right people in the right roles and also end the trend of abandoned projects in the country.
“And until we have an inclusive government where projects are not abandoned, where it doesn’t matter if you’re of this party or that party, he is the brain, he is the round peg that should be put in that round hole to do the work. That is what I’ll do differently,’ she said.
Owing to their performance in the 2016 elections, Brigitte believes that the PPP's 3rd position in the 2016 elections should serve as fair warning to all the other contenders of the 2020 elections that they are going for gold.
