Ghanaian hiplife artiste Donzy is confident that his latest song, Problem, will earn him his first Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) plaque.
Speaking to Kwame Dadzie on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Donzy boldly declared his intentions:
“I am going to win Hiplife Song of the Year with this song [Problem],” he said.
According to him, the song was deliberately crafted with that award category in mind.
Donzy, who has never won a TGMA before, believes he was unfairly snubbed in 2016 when Crusade, his hit collaboration with Kofi Kinaata and Benji, lost out on Best Collaboration of the Year.
“I was supposed to win with Crusade, but it didn’t come my way,” he said.
Asked why he thought he deserved the award back then, he replied: “Because that was the collaboration of the year, hands down! It was supposed to be.”
He added that a great deal of creativity went into Crusade, and he had hoped it would be recognised to inspire others in the industry.
For now, Donzy is putting his hopes in Problem, a new single that features singer Fameye. The song is already gaining traction, and Donzy believes it’s only a matter of time before it makes its way to the TGMA stage.
