The flagbearer of the People’s National Convention is unfazed by criticisms from the opposition NPP and some members of his own party and has declared himself the undisputed winner of Wednesday’s Presidential Debate.
Hassan Ayariga said despite his persistent coughs throughout the debate, he was peerless; his arguments were sound and will definitely take an easy stroll to the Castle after December 7.
In an exclusive interview with Joy FM’s Drive Time host, Bola Ray, on the Personality Profile segment of the show, the PNC flagbearer debunked assertions his coughs were a deliberate tactic to distract the NPP candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo who he had taken pot shots of, virtually throughout the debate.
“Coughs don’t come that easily. You only cough when it comes. You cannot pretend to cough. If I pretend I cannot be coughing profusely..."
He said his coughs should not be an excuse for under-performance.
“What is the cough going to do anyway? I was coughing but I was at the IEA that is the most important. Did I say my cough didn’t make me perform? Whether I cough or I didn’t cough it is not part of the game. The game was to deliver and that is what I did,” he said.
He added the country has been ruled for many years by lawyers and very little has been achieved, insisting the time has come for him to be voted as president.
