Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Adwoa Safo, has revealed that she has no interest in contesting the parliamentary seat again, citing the recent challenges she faced during her time in office.
Speaking on The Pulse on JoyNews on Thursday, March 20, She stated that she would not consider running for the seat again unless convinced by her father.
Reflecting on her time as the MP for the constituency, she admitted the difficulties she encountered had left her disillusioned with the idea of returning to the position. "Considering what I have been through, considering how I have been treated in the constituency despite my devotions, despite my sacrifices, despite my hard work, how I have been treated, I don't think so, I won't. It will take my father to change my mind, I have done 12 years and I left a good legacy in the constituency, I will not contest Dome Kwabenya" she said.
The NPP, represented by Mike Oquaye Jr. lost the traditional NPP seat to the NDC in the last election in 2024.
However, while she ruled out the prospect of rejoining the race for Dome Kwabenya, the former MP did not shy away from sharing her future aspirations.
She revealed her ambition to achieve higher political leadership, stating her goal to either become the first female president of Ghana or serve as Speaker of Parliament.
"I am moving forward, I am looking at other bigger things," she said.
"Like the presidency"? The Host, Elton John Brobbey asked. She responded, "Yes one day, not now, I am looking at speakership, yes. I am looking at higher challenges and opportunities" she emphasised.
