Former Ghana international, Laryea Kingston, has become the latest personality to criticise the state of the Baya Yara pitch following the Black Stars defeat to Angola.
The country's senior national team fell to a late goal from Milson in the second half as the Palancras Negras took home all three points in the opening game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Milson's goal came after Abdul Mumin's failed clearance in dying embers of the encounter with the former tapping into an empty net.
Speaking on Joy Sports Link on Saturday, September 7, Kingston, blamed the poor nature of the pitch which he feels contributed to Mumin's unfortunate event.
"If the pitch is very good, I think Mumin will still be on his feet and have a clear opportunity of clearing the ball," he said.
"For me, I know people will say previously we played on the same pitch and got results. I want them to know that football has changed...we want to have the ball on the ground, and we want fast pitches.
"The players who played the game, played last weekend [for their various clubs]...when they come here, because of the pitch they struggle."
The aftermath of the game has forced the National Sports Authority to shut down the Baba Yara Stadium for maintenance ahead of next month's qualifiers.
