The Tarkwa District Court One has sentenced Enoch Buamah, a 19-year-old illegal miner, to three months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing assorted items worth GH¢7,563.
Buamah, who was recently jailed over a similar offence pleaded guilty to unlawful entry, causing damage, and stealing.
He was sentenced to three months in prison on each count, but the sentences will run concurrently.
The prosecutor, Inspector of Police Patrick Essien told the court presided over by Charles Owusu Nsiah that Patricia Kyei, a hairdresser was the complainant.
He said although Madam Kyei and Buamah lived at Nyametease community in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality, her house was located on the outskirts of the town.
Prosecution said on December 11, 2024, Madam Kyei left her house locked to attend a programme in Akotom, a town along the Tarkwa-Bogoso highway.
Inspector Essien said upon returning on March 12, 2024, she found her house burgled and the door was damaged.
He said the complainant detected that the inner door lock valued GH¢1,000 had been destroyed and items such as television set, two half pieces of cloth, two yards of cloth, three sets of cooking utensils, cutleries, plastic chair, table, bowls, assorted soaps, dresses, waist beads, dressing bag, mirror and ice chest all worth GH¢7,563 were stolen.
He said the complainant notified the unit committee task force in the town, and through their own investigation they had a tip-off and confronted Buamah, who confessed and led them to his house, where the stolen items were recovered.
The task force arrested Buamah and handed him over to the police at Aboso with the retrieved items.
The police visited the crime scene and after investigation, the convict was formally charged with the offence.
