Multi Pro Private Limited, the local brand representatives of Indomie Noodles has urged corporate Ghana to support the National Sanitation Day concept instituted by President John Mahama.

The day, which has being set aside to undertake cleaning throughout the country falls on the first Saturday of every month.

The leading producer of noodles in the country, Indomie,  has therefore taken the forefront in this campaign and has being supporting a number of institutions with litter bins and other cleaning equipment.

This is to help ensure that the environment stays clean even after the sanitation day clean-up is over.

The country’s premier hospital, Korle Bu is one such institution that has benefitted from Indomie’s initiative.

Head of Public Relations, Mustapha Salifu, received the bins on behalf of the hospital. He was joined by Robert Annang, Head of Environmental Health Unit, and his deputy Samuel Ashley as well as Alex Arhin, Head of Bio Statistics.

Receiving the bins, Mr Salifu commended the company saying that sanitation remained a priority for the hospital. He was therefore hopeful that the bins will help keep the hospital clean and provide a receptacle for litter for people who visited there. He also appealed to the company and other corporate organisations to bring them more bins.

At the 37 Military Hopsital, Lt. Col Rex Adzagba, Administrative Officer- Medical, received the bins on behalf of the management of the hospital. He was full of praise for the company and stated just how important the litter bins will help in efforts being made to keep the hospital clean. He also urged the company to bring in more bins to ensure that every nook and cranny of the hospital stays clean at all times.

Earlier, during the weekend, some management and staff of the company joined the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and the market women at the Central business district to clean up their surroundings. As a brand in the food sector, the company said they were very concerned about people eating contaminated food and therefore decided to join the exercise at such a densely populated place where filth piles up very easily.

After the exercise, the company presented litter bins and some cleaning equipment to the AMA. Presenting the items, the Brands Manager, Shine Torsoo indicated that the company was committed to ensuring that the environment is kept clean at all times. He said they were hopeful that food items being sold would not get contaminated as the bins will help ensure cleanliness at all times.

He added that this was the company’s contribution to ensuring that the country does not have to suffer again from the devastating effects of cholera again as has happened this year. He also appealed to the Assembly to put in place an effective monitoring system to ensure that the litter bins are not destroyed or stolen, but rather used for the intended purpose.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Assembly, Mr Paul Obli Laryea, a representative of the MP and a former Assemblyman thanked the company for their kind gesture and assured them that the bins and other cleaning equipment would be put to good use.

After the clean-up exercise, the company feted participants to sumptuous indomie meals amidst dancing and merrymaking.

As an indication of its commitment to this initiative, the company will be making some more presentations to institutions including the University of Ghana.
