Inflation rate increased by 0.1 percent in the month of February.
The rate went up from the 16.4 percent recorded in January to 16.5 percent in February.
The Ghana Statistical Service that announced this on Wednesday attributed the increase to the food inflation rate for February.
Deputy Government Statistician, Baah Wadie spoke to JOY BUSINESS.
Inflation measures the change over time in the general price levels of goods and services.
Food inflation rose to 7.0 percent from 6.9 percent whereas non-food inflation recorded 23 percent same as that of January.
On regional basis, the Central region recorded the highest inflation rate of 20 percent from 18.4 percent in January while the Upper West Region recorded the lowest inflation of 13.3 percent the same as in January this year.
Four regions Central, Volta, Upper East and Ashanti recorded inflation rates higher than the national average of 16.5percent.
The Northern Region recorded the same inflation rate as the national rate of 16.5 percent.
