Swiss side FC Basel have completed the signing of Ghana international defender Samuel Inkoom from local club Kotoko.
The 19-year-old signed a four-year deal on Wednesday for an undisclosed fee.
Inkoom excelled at the recent African Nations Championship in the Ivory Coast which prompted interest from several clubs in Europe.
His agent Goran Hadzi Milovanovic told BBC Sport: "We had many offers for Inkoom but after carefully examining all we knew Basle was the best.
"He is a youngster with great potential and he needs a place where he can develop and realise his potential as a world-class player.
"There is the opportunity for him to play regularly at Basel not only in the local league but also in European competitions too as well.
"This is the right place for him to start his career and I am confident that he will grow into some of the best defenders from Africa to play in Europe."
Inkoom penned the deal after undergoing a rigorous medical test in the Swiss town of Basel.
He was a key member of Ghana under-20 team that won the Africa Youth Championship in Rwanda in January.
The defender made full national team debut last month during the 2010 World Cup qualifier against Benin.
