Indications emerged Thursday in Abuja that President Goodluck Jonathan has given the final marching order to the Nigeria Police to put a stop to the security challenges posed by the Boko Haram terrorist group and other high risk security crises facing the country, including kidnapping and bank robbery.Towards this end, the President was said to have expressed dissatisfaction with the manner some state Commissioners of Police were approaching the issue of Boko Haram terrorism, saying that explained why they still find their way into national assets like police stations or police bases and detonate explosions there.At a meeting he summoned on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, which involved the Inspector General of Police, all Deputy Inspectors General of Police, all AIG’s of Zones and Commissioners of Police of the 36 states and Abuja, Jonathan was said to have told the CPs pointblank, that he was very unhappy whenever there were reports of bomb explosions and people were killed, saying it created negative impacts on the minds of potential foreign investors and the international community.In certain instances, the President was said to have frowned on the Police telling them he was aware Nigeria had some of the best trained and experienced officers in all fields of security endeavour, including counter-terrorism measures, as had been testified to by international bodies as INTERPOL, etc, hence he was baffled why this expertise was not being put to practice.Vanguard gathered that the President particularly raised questions concerning the Boko Haram attacks in Gombe State in which a 34 MOPOL Squadron was attacked, a Police Inspector and 3 other persons were killed.He was also said to have expressed concern over the Boko Haram attack last Sunday evening in Maiduguri, during which a member of Borno House of Assembly was shot dead as well as the recent violence in Benue State.
