Pupils of the United Methodist Basic School at Anawoekope in the North Tongu District finally have a computer laboratory for ICT lessons.
The International Needs Ghana, who previously provided the school a fully equipped library has now provided a modern ICT Lab for the school.
Commissioning the facility, the Manager for Education at International Needs Ghana, Rev. Isaac Quarcoo, noted that the core values of the organization is giving everyone, especially students in the remote areas, equal opportunities just like their colleagues in the urban areas in order for them to develop holistically.

“International Needs Ghana is happy to be with you on another happy occasion. About a year ago, we were here to commission a library we had set up for the school. I am happy that the school is making good use of the library,” Rev. Issac Quarcoo said.
Rev. Isaac Quacoo noted that, the relationship between International Needs Ghana and the school started 24 years ago when the organization established the school in the area to provide quality education for the children in the community.
“Since then, we have contributed significantly to the development of the school in various ways. We put up all the school buildings on this compound,” Rev. Quacoo said.
He noted that the new curriculum for the basic school required teachers and students to do a lot of work which was the reason why the organization had to provide the school with an ICT facility.
He noted that ICT features in everyday life and in all spheres of life, a life skill which he says everyone must acquire.
“I am happy to announce that International Needs Ghana together with our development partners have provided this school with another new state of the art computer lab. True to our core values as an organization, two of which are; nondiscrimination and equal opportunity, we are giving the children in this community the same opportunity that their colleagues in the cities have so they can also compete in the ICT field” he said.

To the parents and community, he asked that “you contribute your quota by paying the utility bills so as to keep the lab running. While at it, we are also appealing to the District Director of Education to help make this computer lab the best in the district. On our part, International Needs Ghana will maintain the computers. If we all work together, we can achieve a lot for the school and the community,” Rev. Quacoo said.
The Volta Regional Director of the Methodist Education Unit commended International Needs for the great work done over the years in the North Tongu District and urged them to do more.
Community members, teachers and school children expressed gratitude to the organization for their kind gesture and promised to put the facility to good use.
International Needs Ghana, supports over 5000 children annually to access, continue and complete Basic education.
In the North Tongu district, International Needs Ghana supports four schools namely; Kanuwloe D/A Basic School, Lasivenu D/A Basic School, Mepe Holy Christ School and Anawoekope United Methodist Basic School.
