The Coalition of Muslim Organizations,Ghana (COMOG), would resist attempts at instigating Muslim youth to engage in violence prior to, during and after the December election.
This was contained in a resolution signed by its Volta Regional Co-ordinator, Alhaji Saeed Anass Dawuda, at a one-day advocacy workshop on Islamic perspective on human rights, inheritance,
reproductive health, gender and HIV/AIDS.
The workshop was organized by COMOG under the auspices of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and attended by Imams,Muslim community leaders, youths, women and opinion leaders from the northern part of the Volta Region.
The organization pledged to support government's efforts at maintaining peace and improving the quality of life of all Ghanaians.
The resolution said its members would participate fully in the
impending exhibition of the voters' register and the national identification exercise.
It called for support for government's efforts at mitigating the effects of rising global crude oil and food prices.
The resolution pledged the organization's commitment to support
education of its members on HIV/AIDS and the need for Muslims to
investment in the education of their children especially girls.
