Ghanaian-born American-based Prophet, Gideon Zadkiel Baffoe has publicly declared that he owns a gun. He believes it is imperative for one to own one irrespective of their societal status as ‘Man of God’.
In a conversation with Frank Kwabena Owusu, popularly known as Franky 5, on ‘This is Gospel’ on Hitz FM, the ‘Man of God’ said, “I have held a gun before. I even have a gun, not here before Dampare comes to arrest me” and he laughed it off.
When the host queried his reason for owning a gun, Prophet Gideon responded: “Wisdom is very important. The Bible said for lack of wisdom, my people perish”.
Although “Believers of the Word” are assured of spiritual protection in the Holy Bible —per Luke 10:19 (Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you), Prophet Gideon explained: “The fact that the Bible says you walk on scorpions, the Bible did not tell us to intentionally walk on scorpions”
The Founder of the Eagle’s House Chapel also said he lives in the United States, where he describes as a “crazy world”—and being in the possession of a gun has become more of a habit for him, especially in Atlanta.
“I don’t live in Ghana, I live in America. Over there, life is boring. So for me, I started getting into guns because of gun range, as a hobby. Believe me, if you go to Atlanta for instance… everyone in the streets has a gun. We live in America that is a crazy world”, he observed.
The prophet also added that, although he prays a lot, owning a gun for extra protection is part of a lifestyle he picked up from living in the United States.
