Ivorian Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson said he is not dreaming of revenge when his side takes on Portugal in the FIFA World Cup on Tuesday.
In his previous incarnation as manager of England, Eriksson's side lost out to Portugal in the quarter-finals of the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Eriksson, when asked if Tuesday's Group G opener offered him a chance to get his own back on Portugal, said: "Could this be revenge? No I'm not thinking about that at all. Four years ago England was unlucky, we lost on penalties, but that's life."
Appearing at the eve-of-match press conference at Port Elizabeth's Nelson Mandela Bay stadium, Eriksson reflected on the present England team's opening 1-1 draw with the United States.
Fabio Capello's team had taken the lead but then had to settle for a share of the points after an embarrassing blunder by goalkeeper Robert Green which allowed Clint Dempsey's soft shot to cross the line.
"England was unlucky with Robert Green," their former manager said. "Very unlucky. I am very sorry for him; it must be awful to do what he did. But I think England will go through [to the last 16] for sure."
